Our Boarding service takes place in our own home - sitting on 30 acres of forest for every dog to enjoy. When your dog stays with us, they become apart of our family, whether your dog is nervous, fearful, high energy or elderly, we will give your dog the care and patience they need to thrive and feel safe. We have lots of experience with all sizes, ages, breeds and behaviours. We take every new dog into our care with confidence. We understand how leaving your pet can be hard, that's why we keep all pet owners updated on how their dog is settling in or with any progress they are making and provide videos and photos through our Instagram stories so you know what's going on!

Boarding Guidelines
& Policies:

Your dog must be fully crate trained, meaning they are quiet and comfortable in the crate. This is to ensure they are secure and safe when sleeping overnight and if they need a little break! (We have an extra secure room for very few exceptions)
Dogs get quality one on one time with Malasia, time with other well-rounded dogs and get an off leash hike on our 30 acres daily. For dogs who are not off-leash reliable, they get walks on leash, we do also offer training programs that can teach your dog to be reliable off leash while they stay with us!
We provide dog beds, blankets, bowls, toys and everything else - All you have to bring is food and what they walk on!
We board 4-6 dogs, sometimes we take more depending on personality and care needs of the dogs! Our priority is that each dog gets what they need.

Excellent care! I boarded my dog for 10 nights while on vacation. I hadn’t left my rescue dog for that long before and he’s a nervous guy. Malasia posted update videos everyday so I could see how he was doing, which gave me great comfort! The dogs get plenty of outdoor exercise and structure to their day. I definitely recommend Tuckered Out Training, my dog had a blast and it gave me such peace of mind knowing he’s well taken care of.

Client pack walk days happen rain or shine!

We hiked on leash first, then everyone played with their dog off leash before allowing them to go off and mingle with the other dogs, after some off leash walking with everyone, each owner recalled their dogs and walked them on leash back to the vehicles!

It was a great group!

2 dogs who used to escalate into fight mode mingling with no issues and most of the others used to be reactive or nervous but look at them all go!

COMING SOON - Training Walks!

A 6-session walking program where Elaina comes to your home 3 times for 2 consecutive weeks and works with your dog on:

• Loose leash walking
• Learning to walk with you happily
• A reliable heel command for when you need it
• Building engagement, focus and clear communication

At the end of each week, Elaina will complete a transfer lesson with the owner so you can continue the progress confidently on your own.

After completing the program, you’ll also have access to private walks at a lower rate and free client group walks!

While loose leash walking is the priority, we also want your dog to genuinely enjoy the experience. Your dog will get time to play, decompress, sniff and simply enjoy being outside because good walks should feel good for both the dog and owner!

I have been fostering rescue dogs since 2022 and once I started, I couldn’t stop. It’s been a huge part of my life ever since.

I have fostered many dogs varying in breed, size and temperament, some long term and some short term but with every foster dog I learn something that stays with me forever.

Rescue dogs are special, they come with their own personalities, genetics and don’t usually have a good start.

But with that, they have each taught me how resilient dogs truly are. They are brave, intelligent and have so much more potential than people usually give them credit for.

I’m thankful for how the rescue world has brought people into my life that I’m forever grateful for and the lessons I have learned along the way!

Miss valley learning how to play effectively!

A key part about working with dogs that are easily over aroused and anxious is teaching them to regulate their body and relax their nervous system.

Doing massage work and relaxed conditioning is super helpful for all dogs but especially these dogs with behavioural struggles.

Some take longer to really give into it and some give into it right away but it’s a wonderful thing to do with our dogs even outside of play!

Meet Jax!

She is around 6 years old and is completing a behaviour modification private training program.

She’s working through:

- Separation anxiety
- Dog Reactivity
- Defensive feelings towards new people when on walks
- Being able to handle nail trims and handling

Something else that is also being looked at and getting professional care on is Jaxs gait and overall body health. He struggles to walk normally and will be going on a plan to help her overall body strength and conditioning!

She’s made great strides already with her behaviours and working towards being off leash reliable. There is a lot of work to do still but she’s got great owners putting the work in!

Everyone did so good chilling while I tried to get Bunny and Olive to sit still long enough for me to get a good photo

They stayed for the most part but the second I tried getting everyone to look at me at the same time, one of them would disappear from camera view lol

BUNNY is up for adoption 🐾

She will continue her training until June 5th and her future adopters must participate in training sessions before she goes home, setting everyone up for long-term success.

She is 5 years old, spayed female, UTD on vaccines

Why Bunny is amazing:

• Fully off-leash trained and reliable in a variety of environments
• Neutral to people, dogs, and distractions unless given permission to “go say hi”

Bunny’s quirks:

• Dog-neutral but can be nervous upon initial introduction and requires time to build a solid relationship with other dogs
• Still learning dog body language and may correct a dog if overwhelmed or pressured
• Neutral with kids, but can become uncomfortable with high energy or a lot of forward pressure

Before applying for Bunny:

• Adopters must be committed to participating in lessons to fully understand her and maintain her training
• If the adopter has a dog already, the must be willing to put forth an effort to build a relationship with their current dog and bunny.

Something I love about having regular boarding dogs that have been coming for years is getting to watch them build relationships with each other, even when they sometimes go months without seeing one another.

It’s so special watching those relationships grow and change over the years.

She is here for a 4 week Stay and Train program to work through her reactivity and anxiety!

Valley is a very nervous girl who needs help building confidence, learning how to settle and regulate herself.

Sweet Juniper is a 10 month old Bernedoodle completing an obedience and off leash private training program!

Juniper is a happy girl who LOVES other dogs and our goal is to keep that enthusiastic personality while also teaching her the skills needed to safely navigate the world around her!

Clover and I head to agility regionals in June, this will be our second time trialing in it!

We have been working hard on all of the things, doing a lot of conditioning, working on stamina and I feel we are a lot more ready than last year!

We still have so many things to practice and more reps to get in but clover has grown so much the last year so I’m really excited to do this with her again!

Fleety went home from his 6 week Stay and Train a couple weeks ago.

Since being home he’s continued to be brave, curious and trusting with every new thing that comes his way. His progress has seriously been put to the test and I am SO proud of him.

His mom has been incredibly dedicated and hasn’t stopped helping him and it shows too!

Fleety’s case was a hard one. After being on the run for many weeks and once caught, he was stuck in survival mode for many months. He lived in a constant flight or freeze response.

He would have both kinds of accidents when scared, would fight for his life if he was on leash and would run away if anyone went towards him. He wouldn’t go near or follow anyone. He would panic, spin in circles and chew through leashes when stressed.

Fleety had to relearn how to be a dog outside of survival mode. How to trust, open up and work through stress.

A huge part of helping him was carefully pushing his limits while guiding him through pressure and showing him he was safe on the other side of it.

Helping Fleety has been one of the most rewarding experiences and definitely one of the more complex fear cases I’ve worked with.

The progress was slow and every step had to be thoughtful, but I’m incredibly proud of how far he’s come and grateful for the trust his mom put in me to help him.

And he’s continued to prove that growth since being back home.

The work isn’t done yet but he’s finally learning how to just be a dog again.

As someone who owns multiple dogs, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for them, support them and provide fulfillment as if they were their own.

Stay & Train Freya had her skills tested more too and she did amazing!

We ran into every distraction possible! So many kids and people chatting with us, a few bikes, a little train, and dogs!

Your dog can have the most solid obedience, they could have a lot of skills, but if you don’t have a healthy relationship as well, that obedience doesn’t mean much.

I see a lot of dogs that can perform the obedience yet the relationship with their owner still needs work and isn’t being focused on.

Your communication and connection matters so much more.

Having fun with your dog, giving them opportunities to let loose and express themselves is such an important piece that’s often overlooked.

Obedience is nice to have and has an important place but make sure you’re truly learning to understand your dog, doing things they love and building a connection that goes deeper than skills.

Run, play, practice off leash skills and repeat!

These girls did awesome at not running up to other dogs, doing their own thing, running and having fun and their listening skills were almost perfect lol!

Took a second for them to figure out where to be for the off leash heel command, Freya and Lila struggled a bit with staying in the down while I played with Sayu but they all got the hang of it!

Proud of these three!

Dogs don’t NEED to be paid for every good thing they do or every check in they give you to keep things reliable and ensure they listen.

If you’re always having to convince/beg or reward your dog to stay with you or to complete commands when they are asked, your relationship should be re-evaluated.

A transactional relationship is created by feeding your dog for everything and it often leads to a dog that checks out the second the food does and is easily drawn to distractions.

The goal (for me anyways) is a deeper connection and understanding.

A dog that wants to be with you.
A dog that chooses you.
But can also be independent and confident in themselves.

That balance creates a bond like no other.

Food helps and is SO important for teaching behaviours and it’s good to reward your dog even after they know them but it’s not the whole picture and when overused excessively it won’t lead to true freedom or a solid healthy relationship with your dog.

Foster Bunny went through a very traumatic experience less than a year ago.

She was already a defensive and reactive dog and that led to her attacking the wrong dog who fought back. She ended up with serious injuries that required a pigtail drain.

Her body has healed, but the trauma hasn’t.

When she was surrendered to us, her owners were told by a professional that she shouldn’t be around dogs or go to a home with any dogs. It almost prevented her from coming to me.

But avoidance only shields a dog from growth.

Bunny carries a lot of fear but she’s also naturally defensive and spicy. Those two together create a really conflicting emotional state.

For context:

She would scream and scurry away from unexpected touch or even bumping into something.
She would freeze or attack if a dog sniffed her face or lingered too long.
She avoided dogs when she was unsure and would shut down under pressure.

She just wanted space and to be left alone, she wasn’t scared of dogs themselves but when uncomfortable situations occurred, she would overcorrect to make the dog go away.

But this is changing.

She’s starting to recover. She’s choosing to move on instead of avoiding and learning how to exist around dogs without feeling the need to react or shy away.

She’s opening up, she even played with another dog for the first time in a long time!

We’re slowly turning that trauma into resilience. Teaching her that she’s safe, how to handle pressure and build confidence.

She’s still learning everyday and has her moments but she’s not just becoming more stable, she’s becoming happier.

And none of this would have happened if she was kept away from dogs or if her trauma was allowed to define her.

It’s sad how many dogs don’t get to experience true freedom and real enrichment.

I see a lot of posts about dogs that can’t be trusted off leash so they stay on long lines or they can’t even handle a long line, so they stay on short leashes. They get neighborhood walks or trips to the dog park, they get snuffle mats or chews but is that the enrichment that matters?

Sure, they might enjoy it. But is it actually fulfilling?

Just because a dog is excited or aroused for something doesn’t mean it’s beneficial.

How are they feeling after? Are they more at peace mentally? Can they go a day or two without it and still feel settled and fulfilled without behavioural issues?

Dogs of any size or breed are meant to climb over rocks, break and chew sticks, dig, swim, roll…

To use their body, eyes and nose and actually interact with nature all around them.

Is it needed every single day? No
But most dogs would benefit from this type of real enrichment a lot more than they get.

Roo struggles with reactivity towards dogs, this tends to look like barking/grumbling, big lunges and a full on freak out when she sees them!

After getting Roo fully trained off leash, teaching her not to run up to dogs and we addressing her reactivity to teach her she can’t react buttt she can look and when she moves on she gets some praise/rewards or play!

Eventually we will move to it being apart of regular everyday life where passing by dogs isn’t a big deal and we don’t have to always give a whole lot of feedback for Roo to know she’s a good girl!

I’m very proud of Roos owner and grateful for her trust in the process and for trusting me to guide them in the right direction to make real change in their lives!

Client group training night fun!

We raised a total of $425 for For The Love Of Dogs rescue too! A huge thank you to everyone who donated!

Cloud completed his 3 lessons the other day!

His parents goals were to better understand the e-collar, build reliable off leash skills and create more relaxed walks without the constant pulling.

He’s now fully off leash and walking on a loose leash much more consistently without the ping-ponging or pulling in every direction!

Cloud tends to sit in a higher state of arousal. So while a goal was to build a more reliable Heel, expecting that before he can even walk on a loose leash wouldn’t be fair.

When his parents were taught with the prong there was a specific drill they were told to do to condition it, this drill was causing confusion and I found it was actually increasing his anxiety because of that. So taking him off the prong and switching to a collar and following through with the E-collar was a key step to working on his leash walking and made a world of a difference!

We focused on teaching him how to move freely, respect the end of the line and regulate himself. Pairing the freedom with some structured heel walking on short spurts and following through will create more clear mind and work cloud instead of against.

They’re continuing to build on his off leash obedience and have already made huge strides in our last lesson!

It always comes back to working with the dog in front of you!

Off leash skills like recall, emergency downs and a wait command are so important.

But relationship matters just as much when it comes to off leash freedom.

If you turn or suddenly stop, is your dog paying attention? Are they checking in with you?

That’s a huge tell of your relationship. And if they’re not, that’s okay!

Here’s where I’d start:

1. Play with your dog more when they’re off leash or on a long line. Make that freedom exciting with you before sending them off to do dog things.

2. When off leash, ask less and move more. Change directions, run the other way. When they get to you, have fun, then send them back.

3. Practice on leash too. Add in direction changes, run a bit, play, then go back to walking.

Dogs need freedom to do their thing. But you also want a solid relationship behind it.

I don’t just reward and move on. That turns into more of a payment but the goal is a real relationship.

Play with them, run, let them chase you, bring out a toy and actually engage in a game!

That’s what builds a true bond that’s on a deeper level!

We took June for a bike ride today and she loved it and got the hang of staying to the side while also pullingg!

She took slight leash guidance super well when I needed to direct her and she was really good at going straight!

I will be getting a better system for the bike soon which will help so I have both my hands, took a lot of balancing to let her pull without pulling me over aha.

It was lots of fun though and we made sure to warm up and cool down before and after especially with how hard she was going!

Another foster gone to their forever home!

Chase made incredible progress since I first got him.

He came in with severe anxiety, would destroy things when left out alone and would break out of his crate. He lacked confidence and struggled with meeting dogs in a non-defensive way.

While in my care:

•He learned how to self regulate in the crate and outside of the crate even when alone
•He was taught off leash skills and is fully reliable no matter where he is or what distractions are around
•He now has solid obedience and a distance down
•He became a perfect demo dog
•He grew in confidence and learned how to explore and be more at peace with himself
•He made so many dog friends in any situation without any issues

He truly grew into such an Incredible dog, he has a beautiful temperament and grew into his full potential and I feel so lucky to be apart of his journey and help him!

Im going to miss him however im so excited for this next chapter in his life with a new family who are so dedicated to him!

Everyone is exhausted (including me lol) but today was a very good day and it being sunny and nice out really just made it so much better!

I had a total of 7 walks today (not all shown in the video) and they varied between 20-60 minutes long!
